Batch Mode

In the Over-the-Shoulder mode just described, evaluation is made on every design move. The Batch mode is one in which the user waits until a substantial portion of a design is completed before evaluation in invoked. This is the typical manner in which spelling checkers are used.

The difference between Over-the-Shoulder and Batch mode is more than a granularity of time. The constraint mode requires intimacy with the implementation agent, whereas the batch and Over-the-Shoulder modes may stand independently, the only difference being that the batch mode is user-invoked, and the Over-the-Shoulder for all purposes, is self invoked.
