6.4 MODEL DYNAMICS

6.4.3 TYPES OF MODEL BEHAVIOR

The following conditions indicate a change of mode state:

1) A model is created.
2) A model is destroyed.
3) A model is entered (or opened).
4) A model is left (or closed).
5) A model is modified.

The creation and destruction of a model affects more than the model itself. These actions occur within the context of another model. This other model is known as a meta-model. For example, given the system model, which is the "bootstrap" model which defines the behavior of the modeling environment, the creation of a new model requires some modification of the system model to keep track the new model's placement within the system.
