Neighboring Features

Some features within the vicinity of another, although not directly connected, may have bearing on its identity or its evaluation. For example, two parallel ribs can define a channel.

The absence of neighboring features can play a role in a feature's identification as well. For example, a vent hole can not have obstructions within 13 to 15 mm. But this example again reveals that there is a fine line between a feature's definition and its evaluation.
