5.2.2 CLASS-INSTANCE PAIRS

5.2.2.4 SCREENS AND VIEWS

The concept of screens and views shall be used interchangeably. A screen is a view (V) of the iconic portion of the Iconic Object. It consists of a name or index (i), coordinate system, and a Icon System indicating Icons and their location on the screen. As with Icons and Objects, there may be classes of screens.

(EQ 5) V* = <i, c, Is>

Figure 60 visually illustrates the correlation of iconic objects with the screen space, specifically in the representation of a graph. The Objects exist in the bottom plane C, while their Icons exist in the screen space V. Here, the manifestation of the three objects is that of two nodes connected by a link, the link itself having an underlying object.

Figure 61 depicts two different screens. Note that although the underlying objects are the same, the manifestation of these objects are different. Note also that one screen uses 3D coordinate space while the other uses a 2D graphical space.
